Amirav’s research focuses on how effectively health organizations adopted COVID-19 predictive models to plan hospital treatment activities and construct hierarchies of hospital care available to the community. A primary research objective is contributing to the evidence-base and best practices for pandemic response using predictive modeling and information visualization. In a more general sense, the research aims to further knowledge about how predictive models are deployed in health care to proactively plan for high quality care.
Hi Amirav,
Great proposal! I noticed that your participant selection does not involve blind selection (i.e. already knowing the person’s occupation). You mentioned selection bias in your limitation, I am wondering if you plan to do any single/double-blinded participant selection since your survey will be done through online survey platform (since you don’t need to meet the participant in-person) or was there a major reason for choosing your current approach.
Do you think you’ll get similar response for between non-blinded or blinded participant selection?
Hi Grace,
Great question. I will be meeting the participant in person using Zoom to conduct the interview portion of the study therefore it is helpful to know their role in analytics and/or hospital planning (the online survey is solely to collect demographic data). My approach towards the study limitation is through transparency and reporting on the self-selecting roles that will be interviewed for the qualitative data collection.
